Week 15 - Halfway!!

Image
Dear Family and Friends, I can’t believe that we are officially halfway through our mission today. It has gone by soooooo fast and I know that the next three months will go by just as fast. We have loved it so far!! It is hard work but good work!! The rest of this week has been good with work at the temple and the branch and going to Lockport with the 6-month missionaries. Richard already told about that so I won’t do it again here. It is so good to be back in Zion... ...at the foot of our beloved Hill...  ...with a wall of trees protecting us on all sides.  On Friday morning, we were able to walk on the Hill. Here are some pics from our walk.  Notice that they still have to take some things down from the Pageant. The sun is just starting to peak over the Hill. Friday we had a precious experience. There was a baptismal group that was supposed to be there at 12:00 but they called and said they would be late. They finally showed up at 4:2...

Halfway (Either done or left)

Dear grandkids and all you others We mentioned that we were allowed back into Zion's Camp Monday. Before that we officiated a session in the Temple with our good friends from the Payson Temple, the Hathaways as patrons. Then we met Pat and Kathleen Rose in the Temple after our shift. We went to lunch all afternoon with them and talked missions and other things. When we got back we found out about the reprieve and immediately made our jail break with three others. The next two to go waited long enough to move in the rain. Act immediately and you often avoid negative consequences. Tuesday we cleaned part of the Erie Canal Trail as a service project. 1 and 1/2 mile walk and we found virtually nothing. We walked with Larry and Jolene Reynolds and that was fun. Then we had to get back set up and everything in place here in the RV. Moving is a pain. Wednesday was our split shifts and very exhausting. Mom and I had a very interesting experience in sealings which caused us to think ...

Week 14 – Happy Day, All is Well!!  Dear Children, Grandchildren, Family and Friends!! Sorry this is three days late!!! John, Cathy and their families came over the weekend so we didn’t get it done on Sunday and then on Monday we moved back to Zion!! We were told that when our sites came open we could move in. Ours was….so we did!! It is so good to be back at the foot of our Hill Cumorah!! Here are some pics:  Goodbye to the Twilight Zone  (a.k.a Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Park)  Rolling in the weeds to unhook Hooking up in Zion at our own little spot!!  Sooo good to be back home again!! This week was so busy at the temple with the Pageant going on. There were so many patrons especially in the baptistry. Four of our 10 shifts were in the baptistry. It was fun but soooo tiring!! For the sisters, working in the baptistry also entails doing the laundry. One day, we arrived for our afternoon shift and the laundry hadn’t be...

Pageant Week

Dear family Sorry we're late, but last week was hectic. Sunday we had Cathy and John here for Church. John headed for Vermont after the meetings, but all of the the Hicken family came back to our house and played games that night. Last night we moved back to Zion's Camp and had no internet. So  here we are after getting a new internet connection (which is not fast). We worked seven temple shifts in five days before spending Friday night, Saturday and Sunday with John and Cathy's families. Wish you all could have been here, too. Monday was exceptionally busy in baptistry, I worked there all day and we had numerous family groups and more than 130 patrons baptized. For a small font area, that is as busy as it can get. for for session, 8, 10, 12 and 2. Afterward we had to do all the cleaning there and some of the other areas of the Temple since the cleaning crew doesn't come in during Pageant week and with the crowds it is busier than normal. At night we had FHE wit...
