Cast out into the dark and dreary world - Week 11

Dears grandchildren and all you others

This week we moved for a month from Zion's Camp to Red's Twilight on the Erie. It is a nice RV Park, but not the semi-paradise we came from. It is very good of these people to let us come, though, because this is their busy season and we are only paying monthly rates.

So, we all came over Thursday morning to Rod's Twilight Zone. Some of the others had problems with the hook-ups since these are new spaces, but we set up without a hitch (RV joke, you can groan now.)

Monday we were asked after the shift to take a local worker home who was very sick. We felt like it was an honor to be relied upon. That night at FHE we gave Stan Morey a copy of Dynasty of the Holy Grail by Vern Swanson. He was visibly touched that the missionaries would thank him like that. We found out Saturday at his regular shift that when he got home Monday he started leafing through the book - till 6 am. Sounds like something I have been known to do. He really likes it and has already contacted Brother Swanson about a question he had (Brother Swanson answered immediately.) This will be a great thing for all concerned so the info can be improved even more.

Brother Morey spoke about little known facts of Palmyra and the Church and it was again a wonderful experience. Seer stones was one subject. I testify that this is an inspired work and we see that more all the time.

Tuesday we trained for our shift as Hill Cumorah missionaries. We'll do that on the 4th so all the site missionaries for the four local sites can get together for a meeting/party.

Wednesday my copy of Dynsaty came. Mom made me choose something for Father's Day. It was this or Nibley on the Joseph Smith Papyri. I asked what she wanted to read, and, as a result, we now have the Dynasty revised edition like Grammy does.

Friday we tried to get the hotspot functioning for Mom. Not yet, and she needs it for BYU. We'll try again tomorrow. Saturday we had the early session on top of our double shift, so 10 hours in the Temple. We were beat but happy. Yesterday it flooded in Utica and the Oneida Branch President asked if we wanted to stay home today because some roads were closed. Of course we went and had a marvelous Fast Meeting and teaching our young women in Sunday School. I taught Priesthood on Home Teaching. Seemed well received. Mentioned the Moores I HT with Rob and some other experiences and invited input.

Yesterday in the Temple I was thinking and it seemed to me that it makes sense that, just as we have escorts for a person receiving their own endowment, a person in the Spirit Prison would need someone to help them. As individuals accept their blessings, the Priesthood bearers would be organized into quorums to teach and serve and the sisters in Relief Societies so they can reach out to those in Spirit Prison who will let themselves be comforted. Thus all carry out the mission Peter saw in I Peter 4:6. The Lord's House is a house of order. That I testify to.

Love you all,
Dad/Grandad
