Week 26 - an unexpectedly busy week

Dear family and friends

Time is flying, we just a saw a third of our mission in Palmyra disappear; if you start counting from last week. We learned an interesting lesson by forgetting our umbrellas at the Temple last Saturday; we were facing a potential drenching Monday morning without them. You can put your own tagline on that, just remember the Gospel is designed to protect you from the downpours of Lucifer. Never leave home without it.

Now, as I was praying to know what to do about the rain, the Lord reminded me we have ponchos in the trunk. I got a little wet getting them into the RV, but it protected Grandma.

FHE on the Pearl of Great Price papyri was interesting although we had heard 99% before. It never hurts to learn more or be reminded of eternal truths.

Tuesday we went for a walk in the Sacred Grove and enjoyed the Spirit. I walk on the Hill most every weekday.

Wednesday we had the opportunity to serve as sealing patrons and did many members of Grandma's extended family, almost all of them. This was good because the Oneida Branch came Saturday to do baptisms and we did most of the family members she had prepared for that. I then did the men in initiatory and they are ready for endowments.

Thursday we went to Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame.

It was quite interesting, neither too much space for the displays nor a cluttered attic. We ate at a members house afterwards and it was fun. One of the brothers had a cell phone issue so we left early to get him to a dealer to try and fix it.

In the Temple Saturday morning we were in the baptistry, (or were supposed to be). Buffalo Ward brought all the Melchizedek Priesthood they needed so Elder Mills (also assigned to the Oneida Branch now), and I were witnesses for a live couple sealing and worked in various areas they needed us until 10. During the confirmations I really felt the Spirit as one of the brothers in the branch performed them as well as when I did. He did too. I am very grateful for that.

Saturday we had a unique experience after the Temple. We went to Sauder's to buy some fun things and checked air pressure and filled the tires on the way. After we got back we were going to a good-bye ice cream social for a couple of year missionaries, and as we were leaving a tire almost came entirely off.

Neighbors helped us get it to the shop before it closed. Can you imagine how much fun it would have been to discover that on Sunday morning on the way to the branch? We feel very blessed it happened last night.

Our lesson on teaching using parables went very well. We love our youth Sunday School class and we had all four there today.

Love Grandad
