Our Mission to Palmyra

Dear family and friends We, the Church, are moving quickly to do the Lord's work before the second coming. We are the sons of Moses (Melchizedek Priesthood) and Aaron (Aaronic Priesthood). Thursday we were at the Priesthood Restoration site (actually Aaronic Priesthood restoration site, more on that later).  John the Baptist stated that he was restoring the Aaronic Priesthood  until the sons of Levi (Moses and Aaron) do offer up a sacrifice in righteousness. Elder Atherton proposes that Section 128 says it is the book of remembrance of our dead. I agree, and we are doing that, but not done. Bringing our ancestors to the temple purifies both us and them. Grandma and I will continue doing this work regardless of whether we are wearing a missionary tag on our clothes because we wear the "calling of God in Christ Jesus" Phil. 3:14) inside. Dearest Family and Friends, This has been an interesting week! Monday, I was able to serve a sister missionary who was sick...so grateful!!  Several of our group have been sick, or had family issues, or gotten hurt and we have all rallied around them.  I was reminded of a scripture:  1 Corinthians 12:25,26.  The part before this talks about all the members of the body being important and I really like that part too but these two verses really describe our little group of 6-month missionaries.  "...but that the members should have the same care one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honored, all the members rejoice with it." Dearest Children, Grandchildren, Family and Friends!! I can’t believe how fast time is going!! It is already September and school has been in session for most of you for a week or so!! This week has been a really good week at the temple. I have received so many witnesses of the Spirit that this is indeed the work of the Lord and that He directs that work. The veil has been thin many times. Today, on the way home from our branch meetings, we were reading through the Sunday School lesson for our class next week so that we could ponder it before we get together later in the week to work on it. Two of the scriptures really sums up my thoughts this week. D&C 42:61 – “If thou shalt ask, thou shalt receive revelation upon revelation, knowledge upon knowledge, that thou mayest know the mysteries and peaceable things – that which bringeth joy, that which bringeth life eternal.” And 2 Nephi 28:30 – “For behold, thus saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon...

Family and friends Sometimes service doesn't have splashy results or gee whiz experiences. Monday we were witness couple and we took our mission pictures at the Temple that night. Tuesday was SUPPOSED to be quiet until our friends grabbed us and dragged us out to Stoney Brook State Park. Very beautiful and words are not necessary. Here are our friends Stoney Brook has a swimming hole, that they had drained. The water falls were amazing.  Even shale, which is made up many thin slices, can make a very hard rock As was the rest of the scenery. We are reminded in the scriptures to lichen the scriptures unto ourselves. So, like these roots trying to hang in there, so should we no matter how difficult life may seem.
